Fitness Instructor (Runaway Bay, St. Ann, Jamaica) - Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts

The fitness instructor will lead, instruct, and motivate guests in exercise activities, including cardiovascular exercise (exercises for the heart and blood system), strength training, and stretching. He / She works with people of all ages and skill levels, and must provide high quality, results-focused to facilitate people of all ages and varying needs.

• Demonstrates how to carry out various exercises and routines
• Watches clients do exercises and show or tell them correct techniques to minimize injury and improve fitness
• Ensures all facilities and equipment are in good working order
• Advances and constantly update knowledge of the principles of fitness and training, concepts of health and the effects of exercise on the human body.
• Demonstrates advanced knowledge of the general principles of nutrition and influence on the performance of exercise activities
• Gives alternative exercises during workouts or classes for different levels of fitness and skill
• Monitors clients’ progress and adapt programs as needed
• To maintain all areas of the Gym to a clean, safe and high standard
• Explains and enforce safety rules and regulations on the use of exercise equipment
• Gives clients information or resources about nutrition, weight control, and lifestyle issues
• Gives emergency first aid if needed
• Organizes and lead group exercise sessions, which can include aerobic exercise, stretching, muscle conditioning, or meditation.

Qualification

• Minimum 2 years’ as a Gym Instructor
• Minimum 1-2 certificates as an instructor in any studio-based exercise class
• CPR certified

Lifeguard (St. Ann, Jamaica) - Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts

The lifeguard is responsible for all the swimmers on the beach or in the swimming pool:

• Observes and patrols pool and enforces safety regulations.
• Provide excellent service consistent with the hotels standards operating procedures and brand attributes.
• Should be excellent swimmers and should also be able to swim underwater
• Greet all guests upon arrival, distribute towels, aid with seating, and delivering consistent guest service, exceeding guest expectations, and providing all other supporting services.
• Knowledgeable of pool facility such as length and depth of all pools, how many laps it takes to make complete a mile in meters and feet etc.
• Must be able to teach children safety practices and create awareness
• Knowledgeable of hotel facilities and services to answer guest inquiries.
• Check and maintain the Colour, Chemistry, and Clarity of the pool water.
• Complete the opening, mid-day, and closing duties checklist.
• Clean and maintain the pool deck and beach area throughout your shift.
• Identify and report defects, notify supervisors and concerned departments immediately of hazards, injuries, equipment or processes that negatively affect the operations.
• Ensure the beach area and pool deck is swept and watered down and that all furniture is in the correct place, when setting up in the morning.
• Lifeguards should be on extra alert when there are children swimming around as they are more prone to accidents
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of resuscitation, first aide, and CPR/PR techniques.
• Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment for self and others.

Skills & Experience

• At least 1-year experience
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department.
• Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
• Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
• Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.

Qualifications Required

• Royal Lifesaving certification
• NEPA Lifeguard License

Security Officer (St. Ann, Jamaica) - Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts

Under the direct supervision of the Security Manager, the In-house Security Officer must oversee all areas of the hotel property, inside and out, from the parking lot to banquet halls and private guest rooms.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
• Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
• Circulate among visitors, patrons, or employees to preserve order and protect property.
• Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
• Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
• Patrol premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
• Keep track of all the cameras installed in the hotel premises and report if there is any suspicion.
• Monitor the alarms and make arrangement for evacuation in case of emergency.
• Maintain security station with a proper information database and stay connected with the security room so that quick actions can be taken at times of emergency.
• The security officer should keep a constant check on the other security personals and see whether they are performing their responsibilities up to the standards and take corrective actions if anyone is found at fault.
• Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Investigation and security training
• Powers of arrest training
• CPR/first aid trained
• Trained in report writing, etc.
• At least four (4) CXC passes

Executive Chef (Runaway Bay, St. Ann, Jamaica) - Bahia Principe Luxury Runaway Bay

The Executive Chef will/be:

• Direct oversight of the kitchen operations for the Luxury Hotel.
• Responsible for training and development of all staff ensuring brand standards are adhered to as well as operational standards.
• Teach preparation according to well defined recipes and follows up and discusses ways of constantly improving the cuisine at the property.
• Display exceptional leadership by providing a positive work environment, counselling employees as appropriate and demonstrating a dedicated and professional approach to management.
• Should be able to provide direction for all day-to-day operations in the kitchen.
• Understand employee positions well enough to perform duties in employees' absence or determine appropriate replacement to fill gaps

Skills & Experience

• At least Five (5) Years’ experience in this capacity within a five-start resort
• Extensive food and wine knowledge
• Displays leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifies excellent customer service and creates a positive atmosphere for guest relations.
• Have an eye for detail and creativity to look at things differently will be a key to developing the Food and Beverage Experience
• Strong menu planning, Inventory control and Scheduling

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in Culinary Arts
• Progressive training in the discipline
• HACCP certified
• Expert in various Specialty meal preparations
• Fluency in Spanish and English is Mandatory
