Accounts Payable Officer (FMG/AT 3) - Kingston, Jamaica -


Job Purpose
The Accounts Payable Officer is responsible for the proper checking, posting and payments of all account payable in accordance with the Financial Administration and Audit (FAA) Act.

Key Responsibilities
Prepares payments for National Insurance Fund (NIF) and its subsidiary companies;
Verifies supporting documents accompanying requests for cheques for NIF and subsidiaries
Vets and prepares all vouchers assigned for the following:



  •  The presence of the necessary bills, claims/documents, authority and that it has 
  • been countersigned by the relevant Senior Officer 
  •  Arithmetical accuracy e.g. the application of correct rates and the deduction of all 
  • amounts deductible 
  •  Adherence to contracts/agreements for the presence of valid documentation that 
  • the goods and services have been received and placed on inventory 
  • Adherence to the FAA Act, its regulations and instructions and all other pertinent 
  • statutes 
  • The accuracy of the account codes and other information recorded on the 
  • voucher and all other checks as deemed necessary; 
  • Maintains records of all payments as well as all routine or ongoing contracts for 
  • example utilities, janitorial services and travel claims etc.; 
  • Ensures that the checking of Pay Sheets, Statutory and Non-Statutory 
  • Deduction Vouchers and Salary Payment Vouchers are completed and corrected in a timely manner; 
  • Prepares Annual Returns for submission; 
  • Ensures that annual returns such as Income Tax, National Insurance Scheme (NIS) and 
  • National Housing Trust (NHT) are submitted on time; 
  • Assists and guides the Accounting Clerk on:
  • The maintenance of the Printed Cheque Register 
  • The maintenance of the Receipt Log 
  •  The maintenance of the Fixed Assets Register 
  •  The preparation of daily bank lodgements;
  • Assists with coding and entering Cash Book transactions on the electronic Cash Book
  • System;
  •  Assists with coding and entering General Ledger transactions in the Electronic General Ledger
  • Prepares Audit schedules;
  • Maintains Accounts Payable Sub-ledger denominated in Jamaican Dollars and United States dollars 
Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
  • Excellent knowledge of the FAA Act 
  •  Excellent knowledge of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) 
  • Good knowledge in the use of Accounting Package (ACCPAC) and Microsoft 
  • Applications 
  • Good knowledge of GOJ Procurement procedures 
  •  Good decision-making, planning and organizing skills 
  •  Good problem solving and analytical skills 
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Very good time management skill 
Minimum Required Qualification and Experience
  • AAT Level 3 or;
  •  ACCA-CAT Level C or;
  • ACCA Level 1 or;
  • Diploma in Accounting from a recognized University or;
  • Associate of Science Degree in Accounting, MIND, or;
  • Diploma in Government Accounting, MIND, i.e. Government Accounting Levels 1, 2 and 3 or; 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Management Studies with Accounting or BBA from a recognized University.

Accounts Clerk - Payables (Kingston, Jamaica) - Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica

The Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the post of "Accounts Clerk - Payables".
Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Accountant, the incumbent will be responsible for processing payments  and lodgements; preparing monthly financial schedules and reports, GCT certificates and responding to related internal and external queries.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Inputs invoices into the accounting system and generate payment vouchers to facilitate cheque preparation
  • Ensures coding is consistent with business and accounting requirements or raise alert to validate coding
  • Prepares assigned bank lodgements for approval and dispatch for lodgement
  • Prepares and maintains a record of GCT Withholding Tax Certificates
  • Supports the receipt and process of purchase of goods and services
  • Prepares monthly schedules for intercompany transactions in order to facilitate periodic confirmation with the intercompany and for the annual external audits
  • Handles queries from vendors and staff regarding payments


Qualification and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent qualifications in related field
  • At least two (2) years experience in a corporate accounting environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft packages, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook; and accounting software system MS Dynamics SL 2015
  • Exposure to local and international accounting standards, particularly IFRS, GAAP, and IAS
  • Knowledge of government accounting principles and procedures

Accountant - Payables (Kingston/St. Andrew, Jamaica)

A food manufacturing` organization in the corporate area is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the post of Accountant - Payables in its Accounting Department.

The incumbent should:
    • Possess a degree in Management Studies majoring in Accounting and/or ACCA level 2 or equivalent
    • Have a minimum of three (3) years experience at a senior management (accounting) level preferably in a manufacturing environment
    • Have working knowledge in using SAGE ACCPAC and be proficient in the use of relevant computer applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Possess wide accopunting skills in payables
    • Be able to work effectively with others in ensuring that the department and company's objectives are achieved
    • Have excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
    • Be able to foster and maintain positive working relationships with staff and external customers
    • Have experience in public sector procurement practices
    • Must own and operate a reliable motor vehicle and should be able to travel to rural locations in the performance of work related duties 
Main Responsibilities will include:
    • Payroll management
    • Supervision and co-ordination of the organisation's payments
    • General accounting and accounts analysis
    • Bank accounts supervision
    • Cash flow analysis
Salary scale: $1,228,815.00 - $1,638,806.00 per annum.
Motor vehicle upkeep of $813,564.00 per annum.

  • Have excellent accounting and customer service skills
  • Be detail oriented and have an appreciation for accuracy
  • Possess judgement/problem solving skills
  • Be able to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks

Accounting Officer - Payables (Kingston, Jamaica) - Mundo Finance

Duties:
  • Responsible for obtaining, reviewing and verifying invoices and payment requests
  • Ensuring that invoices are accurately checked, sorted and processed
  • Proper filing of all vendor files and records
  • Paying vendors by scheduling and preparing requisitions, cheques, wire transfers
  • Maintaining accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions

Accounts Payable Officer (Kingston, Jamaica)

A leading manufacturer and distibutor is seeking an experienced and competent Accounts Payable Officer to join its dynamic finance team based in Kingston.

Core Functions:

  • Ensure creditor's reconciliations are completed and any discrepancy promptly resolved
  • Ensure all non-stock creditors and other stock creditors and other stock creditor invoices are paid according to credit terms
  • Ensure the company's purchasing policy and purchase authority is followed

Accounting Clerk (St. Mary, Jamaica) - Kemtek Development & Construction Limited

Kemtek Development and Construction Limited seeks to recruit a suitably qualified candidate for the role of Accounting Clerk-Payables, for our Head Office in Tower Isles, St. Mary.

Duties:
  • Responsble for obtaining, reviewing and verifying invoices and payment requests, ensuring that all suppliers new and existing provide a TRN, ; contacting suppliers and obtaining same as deemed necessary
  • Responsible for ensuring that invoices are stampede and accurately checked, sorted, coded to correct jobs and matched accordingly to each job locations. Ensuring that all relevant deductions are made e,g. contract levy, etc
  • Checking for discrepancies between PO/invoice amount, narrations, etc and resolving all outstanding matters, including chasing credit notes and applying same
  • Research and resolve invoice  discrepancies and issues between supplier and invoices
  • Recording monthly accruals of audit fees, utilities, etc as needed and preparing the relevant monthly reconciliations as assigned
  • Assist with the preparation of audit schedules as assigned
  • Any other duties as assigned from time to time


Qualification:
  • First degree in Accounting or related field and or 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (WSord, Excel) effectively using relevant formulas such as VLOOKUP, Pivot table, etc
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting standards
