Pharmacist-In-Charge (Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas) - Comprehensive Pharmacy

The Pharmacist-In-Charge is the Supervisor on duty and the person responsible for all pharmaceutical activities occurring on the shift. This includes ensuring that all dispensing activities comply with the company’s standard operating procedures, the Bahamas Pharmacy Council, and the Bahamas Pharmacy Act.

To be successful in this role the incumbent must be the consummate Pharmacist, willing to lead by example, demonstrating the virtues of a good Pharmacist. These include accuracy, accountability, dependability, integrity, professionalism, the ability to keep good records, being very organized, possessing excellent communication skills, and an innate desire to help others in all pharmacy-related matters. Must be a leader with the ability to be flexible based on pharmacy operating hours.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that prescriptions are accurately processed, prepared, labeled, and dispense medication.
  • Manage the shift ensuring that it is adequately staffed, and making adjustments as required. Conduct performance reviews as required. Open and or close the pharmacy as required.
  • Assist as required with cashing. Verify transaction totals and float at the end of the shift.
  • Be an advocate for the customer. Provide individualized patient/provider consultation. Ensure patient interactions are properly documented.
  • Review and maintain inventory records.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals on pharmacy matters. Be a resource to the community by educating and advising on relevant healthcare concerns.
  • Ensure that all pharmacy operational procedures and health and safety protocols are adhered to.
  • When necessary, create SOPs for approval and train employees.
  • Comply with the laws as regulated by The Pharmacy Act and the Bahamas Pharmacy Council.
  • Stay current with pharmacological knowledge.

Remuneration: BSD $45,000.00 per year

PHYSIOTHERAPIST I


The incumbent will be responsible for providing physiotherapy services to patients with impairments, functional limitations, disabilities or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease or other causes; provide prevention and wellness services. Also, works within standards of practice guidelines as defined by the Council of Professions Related to Medicine – Physiotherapists Board.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates and articulates sound clinical reasoning in synthesizing complex evaluation data, identifies diagnosis and develops a comprehensive plan of care.
  • Demonstrates skill in selecting and providing a wide range of intervention strategies and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Understands the role of Physiotherapy in the context of the patients’ age, total needs, perspective and environment.
  • Performs age appropriate competency skills in area of practice and with respect to individual patient problems.
  • Follows intervention protocols and alter plan of care appropriately.
  • Discharges patient when goals have been met or medical necessity is no longer warranted as an intervention.
  • Establishes provisions for continuing services/follow up as needed.
  • Ensures that patient/family understands when and how to access further intervention.
  • Meets competency skills for evaluations in area of practice.
  • Consistently meets patient care productivity standard as established for job classification.
  • Works cooperatively with supervisors and peers to contribute to the overall productivity of the team.
  • Utilises support personnel (aides, attendants, etc) as appropriate and available.
  • Actively support and participate in patient coverage efforts across all divisions within the department as necessary.

  • Utilises appropriate methods and materials for effective learning, monitoring response to education, and adapting program appropriately.
  • Ensures documentation is timely, legible and efficient and meets the profession and department’s documentation standards.
  • Ensures oral reporting is clear, relevant and timely.
  • Performs all required data collection for the department accurately and within expected time frame.
  • Provides outreach and learning activities as requested which may include: in-services on related topics, generating referrals and interacting with volunteers or visitors.

Minimum Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • Training as evidenced by the possession of Bachelors or Masters’ Degree in Physical Therapy, entry level Doctor of Physical Therapy from an accredited university or college.
  • Current registration with the Council for Professions Related to Medicine – Physiotherapists’ Board.

* Certificates acquired at foreign universities MUST be supported by certified transcripts as well as evidence that the completed programme is accredited in Trinidad and Tobago.

Summary of Job Specifications:

The Pharmacist is responsible for the dispensing of items including inventory managment and will adhere to the legal and ethical guidelines to ensure the correct and safe supply of medical products to the general public.

He/she will supervise staff and ensure all guidelines are adhered to, while monitoring the sale of over-the-counter medical products and instruct patients on the use of medicnes and medical devices. Specialist health checks, such as blood pressure monitoring and diabetes screening will be done.

Primary Responsiblities include:
  • Dispensing prescription medicines to the public
  • Ensuring that different treatments are compatible
  • Checking dosage and ensuring that medicines are cortrectly and safely supplied and labeled
  • Supervising the preparation of any medicines
  • Keeping register of controlled drugs for legal and stock control purposes
  • Liaising with doctors about prescriptions
  • Counseling and advising the public on treatment of minor ailments
  • Advising patients of any adverse side-effects of medicines or potential interactions with other medicines/treatments
  • Managing, supervising and training pharmacy support staff
  • Assisting in inventory and receivables mangement of all stock under their immediate supervision
  • Keeping up to date with current pharmacy practice, new drugs and their uses, sourcing items for patients as the need dictates


Academic Qualifications and Professional Experience:
  • Diploma or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
  • Registration with the Pharmacy Board of Jamaica
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience

Pharmacist (Portmore, Jamaica)

Pharmacist: Full-time and freelancer

Responsibilities:
  • Dispense and revie prescriptions to ensure accuracy and compliance with professional and Jamaican regulatory requirements
  • Be able to collaborate with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review and evaluate patient effectiveness
  • Counsel customers on the selection ofmedication brands, medical equipment and health-care supplies
  • Keep records and perform other administrative tasks to include insurance claims
  • Educate patient on medication use, storage and side effects
  • Have excellent supervisory skills to include invenmtory management and purchasing


Qualifications and Experience:
  • At least a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy
  • Be a fuly registered pharmacist with a valid license to practice by the Pharmacy Council of Jamaica
  • Have at least one (1) year practical experience as a Pharmacist
