Horseback Guide (Montego Bay, Jamaica) - Chukka Caribbean Adventures


Core Function:

  • Provide accurate tour information to our clients. Consistently provide safe fun-packed experiences and care for horses and equipment.
Education and Experience: (Minimum Requirements)
  • Two CXC subjects including English
  • A foreign language would be an asset
  • At least two years experience in Horse Care
Specialised Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Horseback Riding Operating Standards

Tour
  • Assist with the maintenance of the tour area and facilities, thus ensuring that they are clean and free of litter.
  • Groom horses and arrive at least 15 minutes before each tour time at the pony-line.
  • Monitor clients closely during tour to ensure that they are complying with the safety practices. Communicate all breaches to your trail master in a timely manner.
  • Describe tour points of interest to guests and respond to questions.
  • Conduct trail inspection as required. Inspection must be done each morning and recorded.
Horses
  • Collect horses from pasture each morning.
  • Perform grooming duties such as washing, brushing, clipping and trimming coats. Mineral oil must be added to coat on rainy days.
  • Clean, organize and disinfect horse stables and horse equipment such as saddles and bridles. Stables must be cleaned each day and saddles must be cleaned twice per week.
  • Clean water troughs each day and ensure that horses are fed with water daily.
  • Examine and observe horses in order to detect signs of illness or injury. Inform supervisor of horse sickness or injuries. Maybe required to provide treatment for minor injuries.
  • Mix feed for horses. Feed and water horses according to feeding instructions. Two times per day.
  • Saddle horses and ensure that they are shoed when required.
  • Exercise horses in order to maintain their physical health.
  • Ensure that blankets and girths are kept clean. Blankets must be washed at least once per week and girths at least three times per week.
  • Apply coppertox to horse feet during rainy seasons.
  • Assist with the removal of feed or hay upon arrival to the farm to the container.
  • Tick wash horses every two weeks.
Grooming and Deportment
  • Ensure that you are properly groomed and neatly dressed in company uniform at all times.
  • Conduct oneself consistent with the policies and procedures of the company. Your action must always reflect favourably on the image of Chukka Caribbean Adventures.

Meetings
  • Attend monthly meetings and all others as required.
  • Perform other related duties assigned from time to time.
Authority To:
  • Remove from the tour anyone who breaches the safety procedures.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Lifeguard is to provide supervision of the beach/pool areas to ensure safety of all guests and other team members for the prevention of any accident that may occur. Also it is important to abide by all rules and regulation under the beach control act

SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain a well stocked first aid kit
  • Maintain up to date CPR /lifeguard certification
  • Keep the beach and pool area clean and free of debris
  • Check and prepare dinghy or rescue boat for run
  • Ensure that walkway are properly maintained
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the beach /pool area (including water)
  • Prepare hobbies cat, kayak, paddle boat etc. for guest

  • Assist with raking and cleaning of the beach/pool area

  • Ensure that workstation is always monitored
  • Have excellent communication skills in oral and written format

  • Lifeguards with valid Coxswain Driver certificate is an asset

Room Attendant - Housekeeper (Montego Bay, Jamaica) - Secrets/Breathless Resorts & Spa

 

JOB OVERVIEW:

Responsible for assisting the Director of Housekeeping, Assistant Director of Housekeeping, Housekeeping Manager and all rooms Managers in the successful ownership and operational execution of the Housekeeping Department. Responsible for assisting the Housekeeping Team Leader in providing genuine care and comfort to the ladies and gentlemen of the respective departments and maintaining a sense of urgency in handling all related matters.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential:

  • Housekeeping experience preferably in a 4-Star property
  • Minimum 18 years of age to work 40 hours a week
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management, staff, and co-workers to their understanding.
  • Knowledge of effective organizational practices
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Desirable:
  • Guest Relations training
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling
  • High School graduate or vocational training.
  • Completion of hotel education/training courses

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to regulations and hotel requirements.
  • Clean guest rooms by category of priority or as directed in line up.
  • Transport cart with cleaning supplies, amenities and linen to assigned guest room and position securely.
  • Service assigned guest rooms.
  • Empty trash, trash containers, and ashtrays.
  • Remove all dirty linen and terry from the room and replace them with clean ones.
  • Remove soil, dirt, soap build-up and hair from bathroom mirrors, vanity, sink, toilet, shower walls, bathtub, shower curtain and floor
  • Replace facial, toilet tissue and bathroom amenities in correct amount and location
  • Inspect condition of bathrobes and replace soiled or damaged ones.
  • Remove dirty bed linen and make up bed with clean linen.
  • Replace laundry bags and slips.
  • Clean closets and door tracks on check out rooms and remove items left by guest. Dust inside.
  • Dust and polish all furniture.
  • Realign furniture to floor plan.
  • Open all drawers in check out rooms and remove items left by guest, dust inside.
  • Check under bed(s), chairs and sofa for debris and remove if present.
  • Inspect condition of all furniture for tears, rips or stains; report any damages to the team leader.
  • Remove all dust, debris on television, clock radio, remote control.
  • Set correct time on clock; correct TV channel.
  • Clean lamps and light switches; check for proper working order.
  • Remove dust, spots and smears from phone, and reposition properly.
  • Empty liquid from ice bucket and wipe all surfaces dry.
  • Remove dust, smudges, and spills from coffee station ensure it is plugged in and securely closed.
  • Remove dust on drapes weekly and realign to correct position daily.
  • Inspect condition of amenities on desk, drawers and guest service directory; replace as needed.
  • Remove trash, debris and cobwebs from balcony or patio.
  • Inspect condition of Secret box, remove items if necessary.
  • Return all lost and found items to loss prevention immediately.
  • Remove dust, dirt, marks and fingerprints from entrance door.
  • Ensure presence of fire safety, rate cards and “Privacy Light” sign. Inspect condition and replace as needed.
  • Remove dust, dirt, and smudges from A/C unit, vents, grids and thermostat.
  • Remove dust, stains and marks from all baseboards, ledges and corners.
  • Vacuum carpet in guest rooms as well as around in the corridor.
  • Update status of rooms cleaned on assignment sheet and on the phone by dialing #8090/#8091
  • At end of the shift, return cart and clean U B rooms.
  • Empty vacuum bag and wipe vacuum.
  • Ensure security of any assigned keys.
  • To take complete ownership and accountability of a daily planning and preparation phase.
  • To take an ownership, “stewardship” position within the department and hotel to ensure operational excellence.
  • To know, comply with, and enforce all hotel and departmental standards, policies, and procedures.
  • To assist in the writing of additional standards, policies, and procedures for the department.
  • Promote and support effective departmental and hotel communication through the use of phones, voice-mail, radios, written correspondence and verbal communication. To respond to all calls and messages promptly.
  • Promote and maintain effective, confidential and secure record keeping
  • Maintain complete working knowledge of:
  • Provide warm welcome, and anticipation of guest needs throughout their stay.
  • Anticipate the needs of guests and direct the staff in complying with those needs.
  • Assist Housemen and rooms attendants with their job functions to ensure optimum service to guests.
  • Promote positive internal and external guest relations at all times. Foster and promote a cooperative working environment, maximizing productivity and employee morale.
  • Do not leave carts unattended in corridors for extended period of time i.e. (gone for lunch)
  • V.I.P.’s, scheduled in-house group names, background, activities, locations, and times as well as special requests/arrangements
  • Correct use and maintenance of equipment
  • All department policies and service procedures

Night Auditor (Montego Bay, Jamaica) - The Tryall Club


 SUMMARY

The Night Auditor is responsible for the accounting of all daily sales activity and reporting of this data in accordance with the company’s Policies and Procedures.

The incoming Night Auditor will be expected to work a regular shift of 11 pm – 7 am once assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Understanding of hotel’s night audit procedures.
  • Minimum two (2) years related experience.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of PBX Operation and Northstar or similar Front Desk Software.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Candidate must be adaptable, flexible, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to marshal projects and being time-sensitive.
  • Ability to interact with a discerning and diverse group of clients.
  • Team oriented, strong work ethic, trustworthy with a positive/upbeat attitude.
  • Effective organization and time management skills.
