The Thai Chef is responsible for the preparation, production, and presentation of authentic Thai dishes that meet the high culinary standards of The Tryall Club (Montego Bay, St. James). This will be a 6 months fixed term contract.
Job Summary
The Thai Chef is responsible for the preparation, production, and presentation of authentic Thai dishes that meet the high culinary standards of The Tryall Club. This role requires expert knowledge of traditional Thai ingredients, cooking techniques, and plating. The ideal candidate will also assist with private dining, special events, and collaborate closely with the culinary team to deliver memorable guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the Thai section, ensuring consistency and high quality
- Prepare and present authentic Thai dishes using traditional techniques and ingredients
- Develop and maintain Thai menus for regular service and special event
- Monitor inventory and ensure the freshness and quality of all Thai-specific ingredients
- Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards in compliance with health regulations
- Train and motivate kitchen staff in Thai culinary techniques
- Work collaboratively with other chefs and departments during peak service periods and events
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and food cost control
- Ensure clear and effective communication with service staff to exceed guest expectations
- Address and resolve guest feedback related to Thai cuisine
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation at all times
- Provide leadership support in the absence of senior kitchen management
Qualifications & Experience
- Culinary Certificate or Diploma in Culinary Arts / Food & Beverage Management
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Thai Chef or similar role specializing in Thai cuisine
- Strong command of Thai herbs, spices, and ingredient
- Proven ability to create authentic and innovative Thai dishes
- Valid Food Handler’s Permit
- Exceptional organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Knowledge of budgeting, inventory, and food cost management
- Ability to work in a team and provide hands-on training to junior staff
- Computer literacy for kitchen operations and menu planning
- Must possess a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and passion for culinary excellence
