Mechanical Technician (Kingston, Jamaica) - Jamaica Bauxite Institute

The ideal candidate should have a secondary education with emphasis on technical skills, average welding skills, ability to manipulate Pilot Plant machinery and equipment. Graduate of HEART Trust NTA or equivalent qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the general direction of the Director, the Mechanical Technician's duties include:

• Performing routine servicing of Pilot Plant equipment as specified by the Preventative Maintenance System 
• Dissembling/reassembling equipment during repair and maintenance, for modifications or after equipment failure 
• Assist with Pilot Plant modifications including piping and relocation/replacement of equipment 
• Function as Process Operator in all Pilot Plant sections
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment issues 
• Perform minor electrical repairs 
• Assist with servicing and repairs of equipment 

Required Skills, Knowledge and Competencies:

• Highly developed interpersonal skills 
• Demonstrable ability to express ideas effectively and organize and develop information appropriately 

Qualifications and Experience:

• At least three years working experience in similar position

LPG Technician (Travel Required - Jamaica) - Mother's

Mother's Enterprises Limited is seeking an energetic and capable individual to join its team as LPG Technician. The successful candidate should be disciplined, performance driven and has the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.

Key Competencies

• A thorough understanding of LPG appliances such as:
• Pressure fryers and open fryers
• Convection ovens and rack ovens
• Commercial and industrial open range stoves
• Gas water heater
• The ability to execute preventative maintenance for LPG equipment and appliances
• The ability to repair LPG appliances and equipment
• Knowledge of LPG systems and calibration
• The ability to install LPG conversion kits
• The ability to prepare critical spares list for ordering

Qualifications and Experience:

• Certification in Electrical and or Mechanical areas from a recognized institution
• Valid driver's license 
• Minimum of four (4) CXC subjects
• At least two (2) years experience in the maintenance of LPG appliances
• Ability to work on own initiative and with a team to achieve results in a fast-paced change oriented environment
• Willing to work under extreme pressure, irregular hours, weekends and public holidays

Mechanical Maintenance Technician (Kingston, Jamaica) - Petrojam Limited

Mechanical Maintenance Technician

The successful candidate will maintain optimum functionality and reliability for all plant equipment and will be responsible for maintenance and reliability. S/he will perform jobs such as inspections, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance and repairs.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of five (5) CXC subjects (or equivalent qualifications) including Mathematics and English Language

or

• UTECH/CMI diploma (or equivalent) in Mechanical Technology

Plus

• Three (3) years maintenance related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, process diagrams and assembly prints parts list.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inspect, troubleshoot and assess condition of maintenance systems (e.g. gear drive, heat exchanger, repair and install mechanical couplings, mechanicalseals, basic electric arc-welding skills, tubing and compression fittings), to detect deviations from normal operating conditions and recommend corrective action
• Participate in Reliability Centered Maintenance activities inclusive of gathering CBM data, assessing equipment condition and risks of failure and recommending mitigating actions to maximise equipment accuracy, uptime and efficiencies.
• Perform pre-job hazard analysis
• Determine tools, equipment and spare parts requirements for assigned jobs and advise the Supervisor and Planner
• Participate in equipment development activities for the continuous improvement of the Refinery

Skills and Competencies:

• Good organizational and time managment skills
• Analytical ability with keen attention to detail
