Job Description

The Cayman Islands Department of Agriculture invites applications for:

CLERICAL OFFICER I (CAYMAN BRAC)

We seek an individual who will serve as a member of the administrative team within the department, responsible for the daily collection/receipting of all revenue to the provisions of the Public Management and Finance Act as well as other Government regulations.

The post holder will provide a range of clerical and other support services to facilitate the efficient and effective delivery of services to meet the needs of the farming community and the General Public in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • The post holder should be a high school graduate with a minimum of 3 O-level passes or equivalent (e.g. CXC) which should include English and Mathematics and must have at least 1-year frontline / receptionist experience.
  • Experience with Counter Point, Point of Sale and Inventory Management software would be an asset
  • Good customer service and communication skills
  • Time management skills are essential
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of general office machines

  • Sound working knowledge of other computer applications e.g. Microsoft Excel and Word

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Communicate with clients, respond to telephone calls and enquiries efficiently

  • Collection of revenue, process receipts and account for sale of goods

Job Purpose
Under general supervision of the Assistant Manager, Trademarks, Designs and Geographical Indications, the Data Entry Technician utilizes the Computer and peripherals for the input of data and information and for the production of reports, papers, briefs and other documents. The post provides support with other related clerical and data related duties.

Key Responsibilities

Technical/Professional:

  • Examines and interprets source documents and user manuals for the establishment of databases and computer files;
  • Establishes and maintains databases and computer files according to specifications;
  • Edits and codes source documents in accordance with specified standards;
  • Key-punches and verifies data and text according to source documents and key-punching instructions;
  • Enters  information  on  files  concerning  applications  for  the  registration  or  grant  of respective individual property rights as well as renewals, miscellaneous modifications and refunds of protection;
  • Produces reports, briefs, papers and other documents;
  • Record information on certificates and other documents;
  • Checks for possible anomalies during entry;
  • Produces computer processed outputs;
  • Examines work for accuracy and completeness.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

Job Purpose:

The incumbent is responsible for inputting data into relevant database as well as transcribing routine pre-coded information, verify data for accuracy and completeness in accordance with prescribed standards of speed and accuracy as detailed below:
  1. Examine traffic tickets and input data in the Traffic Ticketing System (T.T.I.S.);
  2. Scan and save traffic ticket images;
  3. Report malfunctioning equipment or any other constraints which might prevent the timely completion of assignments
  4. Identify and correct errors which become evident in the data entry process
  5. Sort and prepare traffic tickets in order for court dates;
  6. List outstanding tickets for payment at the Court Offices from Intec (previous traffic ticketing solution;
  7. Update tickets paid at the Collectorates that exist as outstanding in the Intec database;
  8. Prepare driving records requested by individuals or companies;
  9. Respond to queries from members of the public as necessary;
  10. Record information for tickets that cannot be entered on the Traffic Ticketing Issuing System (T.T.I.S.)
Other Responsibilities
  • Perform other related functions assigned from time to time

Clerical Assistant

We are currently looking for a vibrant individual to fill the position of clerical assistant in a growing company. Persons who wish to apply should have the following criteria:

Duties: 
  • Typing in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Making and receiving calls
  • Filing
  • Any other duties assigned
Qualifications
  • Five (5) subjects including Math and English


Personal Assistant
We are currently seeking a mature individual to fill the position of Personal Assistant. This individual must be between the ages of 25 - 40 years old. The lists of duties are as follows:
  • Booking scheduling meetings
  • Typing (Word, Excel)
  • Making and receivings calls
  • Running errands
  • Any other duties assigned
Qualifications:
  • Five (5) CXC subjects including Math and English
  • Degree in Business Administration or certificate from a reputable organization
