The positions listed above will report directly to the Executive Chef.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works in the designated station as set by Executive Chef and/or Sous Chef
  • Able to prepare food within recommended time frames to meet in flight client expectations
  • Prepare all menu items by strictly following recipes and yield guide
  • Checks supplies and prep lists and ensures all items are prepped in a timely fashion

Qualifications and Experience Required:
  • Professional certification 
  • Have experience in the field
Skills and Other Attributes Required:
  • Ability to function under pressure
  • Strong sense of loyalty, integrity and punctuality
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements as laid down by law
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Lead Cook (Kingston, Jamaica) - Mother's Jamaica

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as Lead Cook.  The successful candidate should be flexible, creative; be able to work on own initiative and able to meet deadlines stipulated by the company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that standards and specifications for the preparation of specific menu items stipulated by the company are adhered to at all times 
  • Minimize waste and spoilage by monitoring production of menu items and following standardized recipes 
  • Inspire and motivate the team to achieve specified sales and profit targets
  • Ensure that all health, safety and food hygiene requirements are met
Required Skills:

  • Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques 
  • Knowledge of Good sanitation and hygiene practices 
  • Good communication and people relations skills 
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment 
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 65 pounds 
Qualifications and Experience: 
  • NVQ-J level II certification in Food Preparation from HEART Trust NTA or a recognized institution 
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in a high volume and quality food production environment 
  • Four (4) CXC subjects including Mathematics/Accounts and English Language or equivalent qualifications

Quality Assurance Officer (Kingston, Jamaica) - LASCO Manufacturing Limited

LASCO Manufacturing Limited, a leading food manufacturing company seeks to recruit a dynamic individual for the position of Quality Assurance Officer.
Reporting directly to the Quality Assurance Manager, the ideal candidate will execute the following duties:
  • Achieve quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analyse production as it regards output, quality and customer-service standards.
  • Identify and resolve problems, completing audits, determining system improvement and recommending change
  • Conduct hazard analysis, identifying critical control points and preventive measures, establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures and monitoring inventories
  • Validate quality processes through established product specifications and quality attributes, measuring production, documenting evidence; thereby adding to quality assurance procedures
  • Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations

ASSISTANT FOOD SAFETY OFFICER (Montego Bay, Jamaica) - Caribbean Producers Jamaica Ltd.

MEAT PLANT- QUALITY – MONTEGO BAY, ST JAMES

The Assistant Food Safety Officer / Internal Auditor is responsible for ensuring, through the implementation and monitoring of effective food safety and quality management systems, CPJ’s products consistently meet agreed standards.

1. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the QA Manager in the development, implementation and maintenance of the company’s food safety and quality management systems, inclusive of the Prerequisite Programmes and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) system in all food manufacturing, handling, storage and distribution facilities.
  • Ensure that all food products processed to conform to public safety regulations and standards established by local and foreign regulatory bodies e.g. Bureau of Standards, Jamaica and the FDA (FSMA), among others.
  • Assist with the effective development and implementation of the company’s internal and supplier audit programmes.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all non-conformances to CPJ’s Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS) and the subsequent corrective actions.
  • Assist in improving and driving corporate food safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with all established SOPs, food safety requirements, good manufacturing practices and sanitation requirements in accordance with the stipulations of CPJ’s FSQMS.
  • Develop, maintain, and provide employee training relevant to the Food Safety and Quality Management System, inclusive of Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP.
  • Follow-up in a timely manner to ensure non-conformances and customer complaints are documented and corrective actions are monitored and effectively closed-out.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the Laboratory Quality Assurance Programme, to ensure laboratory results are credible, and laboratory and calibration records are maintained and available for review.
  • Work closely with Pest Management Professionals and trained company pest control personnel to address specific aspects of the food safety and quality management system.
  • Develop, review, validate and implement all standard operating procedures and food safety protocols.
  • Monitor staff compliance to GMPs in the food manufacturing, handling, storage and distribution facilities.
  • Routinely collect samples to determine the quality of water, air, raw materials and finished products.
  • Monitor temperatures of raw materials, processing rooms and storage areas.
  • Monitor the sanitation team to ensure effective in-process cleaning, post-operational cleaning and perform cleaning verification checks.
  • Tag and follow through with all quarantined raw materials, packaging materials and finished products.
  • Record all pertinent information relevant to the receipt of all raw materials entering the processing facility.
  • Perform quality checks on processing lines and inspect finished products to ensure compliance to specifications before transfer to distribution.
  • Effectively complete all other activities as delegated by the supervising authorities.
  • Continually update job knowledge by studying trends in and developments in food safety and quality management; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. 
1.1 General Responsibilities:

  • To implement any activity, process or strategy that will improve the competitive advantage of the company, in consultation with the Food Safety, Quality and Sustainability Committee.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of the good name and reputation of Caribbean Producers Jamaica Ltd. in general through the demonstration and practice of the highest standards of ethical conduct.
  • To abide by the disciplinary code of the company.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned. 
2. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Well organized and methodical approach to work and the work environment.
  • Capable of analytical/critical thinking
  • Must be computer proficient including the use of Microsoft platform (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Good decision making, planning and problem-solving skills
  • Must display initiative and ability to work independently
  • Should possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with colleagues, staff and customers.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as the needs of the service dictate, including out of normal hours as required.
  • Ability to work within Company Policies. 
3. Education and Experience:
  • At least a Bachelor of Science Degree in a Technical Discipline (Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, etc.) or equivalent qualifications.
  • Food safety (e.g. HACCP) and quality (e.g. ISO) certification required.
  • Knowledge of Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and Preventive Controls for Human Food desirable.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant Health and Safety Regulations
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the implementation and auditing of recognized food safety and quality management systems (SQF, ISO 22000 etc.) in the food processing industry.
  • A current Food Handler’s Permit
4. Performance Criteria:

The job is satisfactorily performed when the expected efforts have been employed to facilitate:
  • The development, implementation and maintenance of the company’s food safety and quality management system, inclusive of the Prerequisite Programmes and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) System.
  • Obtaining international certification for the company’s food safety and quality management system in all food manufacturing, handling, storage and distribution facilities.
  • The existence of a good food safety and quality culture in the organization.

  • Weigh, measure, mix and prep ingredients according to recipes
  • Steam, grill, boil or fry meats, fish, vegetables, and other ingredients, and arrange and garnish dishes
  • Check food and ingredients for freshness and maintain as per standards
  • Ensure that the Company's receipes and techniques in food preparation and presentataion are preserved
  • Organize work area, prepare food and cooking, and label all food items according to Food Safety Standards
Qualifications and Competence Requirements:
  • Have at least level 3 certification in Commercial Food Preparation from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of three (3) years related experience preferably in a fast food environment
  • Strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation standards
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Able to use industrial kitchen equipment
