Senior Refrigeration Technician (Montego Bay, Jamaica) - Margaritaville Caribbean Group


Margaritaville Caribbean Group is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Refrigeration Technician to join our team in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing exceptional service and a strong work ethic. 

The senior refrigeration technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation: Install, assemble, and test new refrigeration and HVAC systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and related components.
  • Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC systems, including cleaning coils, checking refrigerant levels, and inspecting electrical connections.
  • Repair: Diagnose and repair malfunctions in refrigeration and HVAC systems, including electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant-related issues.
  • Troubleshooting: Use diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and resolve complex refrigeration and HVAC system problems.
  • Refrigerant Handling: Handle and recover refrigerants in accordance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
  • Electrical Systems: Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring and components related to refrigeration and HVAC systems.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and installations.
  • Safety: Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior technicians.
  • Inventory Management: Manage and maintain an inventory of refrigeration and HVAC parts and supplies.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency calls for refrigeration and HVAC system repairs.
  • System Optimization: recommend upgrades and optimize existing systems for better efficiency.
  • Reading and interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or technical diploma in HVAC or refrigeration technology. or Proven experience as a Refrigeration Technician, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems
  • Experience with energy-efficient refrigeration and HVAC systems.
  • Strong knowledge of refrigeration principles, electrical systems, and HVAC systems.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability1 to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Experience with various commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems (e.g., walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, rooftop units).
  • Bilingual is Preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
  • May work in various environments, including indoor and outdoor settings.
  • May be required to work on-call or overtime, including weekends and holidays.
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures and noise.

Painter:

Role Overview: The Painter is responsible for preparing and painting surfaces within the resort's buildings to enhance aesthetics and maintain a clean, attractive appearance.

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and applying primer as needed.
  • Mix and match paint colors to achieve desired shades and textures.
  • Apply paint and other finishes to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Carpenter or similar role.

Plumber:

Air Condition Technician (Kingston, Jamaica) - Aerotel

Aeronautical Telecommunications Ltd. invites suitably qualified persons to apply for the position of:

Air Condition Technician
Job Summary:
Contribute to the continued existence of an environment which is conductive to work and doing business by installing and maintaining an efficient and reliable system for cooling the offices of AEROTEL and KOOL.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

Technical
  • Installs and repairs air conditioning units for AEROTEL and KOOL 94 FM and JCAA
  • Installs peripheral equipment and systems such as transfer fans in collaboration with Electrician
  • Carries out air conditioning related electrical tasks such as the inspection of electrical wiring and the upgrading of electrical circuits which are capacity
  • Collaborates with Electrician in identifying electrical defects which affect the efficient operations of the air conditioning units
  • Dismantles and inspects air conditioning units to carry out scheduled maintenance activities
  • Responds to complaints and requests from staff and makes adjustments or repairs where necessary
  • Handles aspects of the process for the purchasing of replacement parts and new units including, preparing the requisition, defining the technical requirements and securing competitive quotes
  • Provides the technical support to projects undertaken by external contractors
  • Maintains a log of activites and prepares report for the attention of the Assistant Operations Manager or the Regional Operations Manager
  • Gives technical advice to the Operations team on matters relating to acquisition of units or the evaluation of tenders submitted by external contractors

Key Performance Measures
  • Time taken to respond to equipment failure

Minimum education and experience:
  • NVQ-J level 2 in air conditioning or equivalent
  • Four (4) years experience in a similar field
Key Technical Competencies:

The job holder should possess the appopriate knowledge and skills in the following areas:
  • Air conditioning systems
  • Installation and maintenance techniques
  • Electrical wiring and circuitry
