Construction Team Leader (Clarendon, Jamaica) - Jamalco

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Construction Team Leader, to join the Capital Expenditure Department at the Halse Hall, Clarendon location.

Under the direction of the Capital Expenditure (CapEx) Manager, the incumbent is accountable for:
  • Managing and coordinating all construction processes to ensure adherence to the contract specifications to facilitate commissioning and handover
  • Escalating project issues to ensure projects are delivered according to approved scope, cost, schedule and quality requirements
  • Ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and Environmental Legislation and incorporating environmental, health, safety and integrity principles in construction management activities

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management or Architecture
  • A minimum of five (5) years construction engineering experience in heavy brown field industry
  • Specialized project management or construction management training
  • Proven communication and presentation skils with the ability to quickly and effectively analyze information received
  • Demonstrated track record in meeting or exceeding construction management objectives

Responsibilities and Duties:
Administrative Duties

  • Oversee and participate in the development and implementation of student affairs programmes - work study programme, job placement, student union, etc
  • Monitor students' accounts to ensure payment of fees and settlement of other financial obligations to the institution within established timeframe. Recommends/institutes corrective action as necessary
  • Coordinate graduation, orientation and other special functions hosted by the institution

Administrative Assistant

As the Administrative Assistant, you will perform administrative and clerical duties in support of the Administrative Manager and other team members, ensuring the timely completion of daily tasks. You will also be responsible for handling confidential and time sensitive information.

Duties include:
  • Answering and directing telephone calls and enquiries
  • Greeting and assisting visitors to the office 
  • Assisting in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
  • Producing and distributing correspondence: memos, letters, faxes and forms
  • Carrying out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning, etc
