Accounting Clerk

Operating from the Ocho Rios office the successful candidate will report to the Accountant and will be primarily responsible for the reconciliation of accounts.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Use reconciliations to prevent risk of errors, maximize efficiency and accountability
  • Enter/post transactions to the sub-ledger accounts
  • Process/prepare invoices using accounting software
  • Prepare and enter journal entries to subjedger accounts
  • Prepare journal entries for consumption of all inventories and operating assets

  • Reconcile intercompany accounts

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years accounting experience in a similar position

Administrative Assistant (Kingston, Jamaica) - National Irrigation Commission Ltd.

Administrative Assistant
Job Purpose:

Under the general direction of the Director of Administration and Human Resources, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing confidential and proficient secretarial services and administrative support to the Director's office.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Coordinates with personnel at the Portfolio Ministry, other Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Internal Directorate and Heads of Sections relating to meetings, reporting requirements and other matters as directed
  • Controls telephone calls and other communication by:
    • taking and sending messages and screening calls
    • Receiving visitors
    • Answering general queries and referring callers to the appropriate officers
    • arranging appointments and meeting
  • Schedules meeting for the Director by:
    • arranging venues
    • arranging for provision of refreshments where necessary, and any other inputs; and by notifying all participants well in advance
  • Deals with all routine correspondence - incoming and outgoing, and takes follow-up action by:
    • opening and sorting incoming correspondence by affixing the date of arrival
    • preparing and signing letters in response to enquiries
    • ensuring the efficient and timely preparation, dispatch/delivery of all correspondence from the Director to various ministries, agencies and organization as requested, as well as timely circulation of circulars and memoranda from the Director to the various departments and sections within the organization
  • Ensures that proper filing procedures are maintained by establishing and operating a system for classified and unclassified correspondence files


Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Diploma in Business Administration or Certified Adminitrative Professional level 3 (CAP)
  • CPS certification with at least three (3) years experience at the Executive Secretary level
  • Proficient use of the English Language, both written and oral
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer applications relevant to the job
  • Ability to determine priorities and schedule tasks in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
