Administrative Officer (Kingston, Jamaica) - Ministry of Health (Procurement Unit)

Objective:

The Administrator of the PEU is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of the Unit while providing support to the project Manager, who is responsible for the strategic direction of the Unit, and other PEU staff.

The Administrator's objectives are to:

• Ensure the effective day-to-day operations of the PEU by managing its resources
• Support staff to achieve the overall objectives and outcomes of the PEU
• Provide continuous updates on the activities of the PEU with respect to the objectives of Component I, under the Supervision of the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

• At a minimum, a Bachelor's degree in a Social Sciewnce or related field
• At a minimum, three (3) years proven expeirence working in an administrative or similar capacity, for example research assistant
• Basic proficiency in data analysis (quantitative and qualitative) and report writing

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Finance Manager, the Accounting Officer, will be responsible for the accuracy, quality, integrity and timelines of all accounting and financial information, including budget preparation and cash flow management.

Education and Experience:

• Must have attained at least level 2 ACCA
• At least three (3) years working experience in an accounting environment
• Previous experience in initiating and maintaining accounting ledger and preparing final accounts

The ideal candidate should be:

• Organized, analytical and have the ability to work on own initiative
• Experienced and have the ability to work well under pressure and meet rigid deadlines
• Have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Word and experience and understanding of computer accounting systems, budget and financial data, operations and third party billing (Sagicor, Medicus, NHF)
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
