Facilities Technician (Trinidad & Tobago) - Kapok Hotel & Restaurant Co. Ltd.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Check and make major repairs to heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems (HVAC) and refrigeration
  • Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach fixture outlets; then position and terminate cables, wires and strapping
  • Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, and floors
  • Check and make major repairs to plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipe lines, toilets and sinks, kitchen and laundry equipment
  • Check and make major repairs to electrical systems such as power and lighting systems
  • Perform major repairs to building, furniture, bathrooms, guestrooms, pools etc., as needed
  • Ensure that all equipment is functioning properly and that preventative maintenance measures are performed in a timely manner and recorded in the hotels Facilities Management software to preserve the hotel and keep product quality standard
  • Monitor mechanical, electrical and water usage to ensure effective energy management
  • Ensure that all the critical areas of the Hotel are functioning properly by utilising the daily checklist to check all the main areas of the hotel and affect any repairs needed
  • Utilise the Preventative Maintenance Schedule and the Preventative Maintenance Monthly and weekly sheets to keep track of maintenance performed on various pieces of equipment
  • Respond in a courteous manner to guest questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Record maintenance performed in the Facilities Management software
  • Maintain records of parts used, time spent, and repairs performed
  • Conduct all duties in conformance with Health and Safety (H&S) requirements.
  • Be familiar with the Health and Safety and Emergency response procedures
  • Follow all fire, health and safety regulations as they relate to the Facilities Department
  • Report any injuries, accidents or health and safety concerns to the Manager/Supervisor or HSE Committee
  • Perform any other duties as required by the Manager/Supervisor

Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Technical Diplomas in Plumbing, Electronics and Air-conditioning & Refrigeration.
  • A minimum of eight years’ experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in plumbing, HVAC or electrical as evidenced by certification.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite is an asset

Broad Statement of Responsibilities:

This position involves the overall supervision and day-to-day responsibility for leadership of Youth Support Workers and Team Leaders in the Girls Unit to ensure they are accountable in the performance of their duties. The Senior Counselor is directly responsible to the Manager and is supervised by the Manager.

The post holder will be required to work shifts to include weekends, nights and holidays and may be required to work between the four CAYS programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • (Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services Field such as Psychology, Youth Development, Social Work, Counselling or Criminal Justice would be an asset)
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in a residential therapeutic community for youth with at least 2 years’ experience working in a leadership role e.g. social work, teaching, youth work; or at least 5 years’ experience working in such social environments.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for creating the monthly staff schedule to ensure appropriate coverage as well as daily activity schedule for children in care.
  • Providing individual and group counseling to youth in a residential setting.
  • Leading shifts in a residential setting for behaviorally challenged youth to include conflict resolution and implementing therapeutic treatment interventions using trauma informed counselling approach.
  • Holds the Team Leaders and Youth Support Workers accountable to ensure that the health and welfare of the youth in the program are protected:

- Maintains secure and nurturing environment

- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment

- Coordinates and documents weekly Home searches

- Ensures equipment and supplies are secured as per CAYS Safety Policies.

- Manages emergency and crisis situations as outlined in safety policies

  • Provides ongoing coaching, training and leadership to Team Leaders and youth support workers.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Remuneration and Benefits:

Salary- CI $41,724 – $56,112 Annually

The benefit package will include a fully funded pension and comprehensive health insurance scheme.

Summary/Objective:

  • Attend SBST Meetings for the schools within the assigned learning community as required.
  • Collaborate with schools to identify and implement interventions for at risk students.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work or other relevant field is required.
  • Three to five years’ successful experience teaching or in a related field desired.
  • Experience of the CAPITA Student Information System (SIMS) or other student information system is preferred
  • Outstanding levels of professionalism, including the ability to exercise good judgement, discretion, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Confident public speaking abilities, with the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of the Cayman Islands Government school system is preferred
