Training Manager (Montego Bay, St. James) - Round Hill Hotel and Villas

JOB OVERVIEW:

Helps to drive Round Hill Hotel & Villas values and philosophy and ensures all training and development activities are strategically linked to the organization’s mission and vision. The position works with the Executive Committee and property leadership team to identify and address associate and organizational development needs. The position is responsible for ensuring effective training is in place to enable the achievement of desired business results. Training programs focused on a variety of topics, including product knowledge, company philosophy, customer service and leadership skills. Conducts needs assessments, designs, and develops training programs and facilitates the delivery of both custom and corporate training programs. Measures the effectiveness of training to ensure a return on investment for Round Hill Hotel & Villas.


QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ international resort experience in a similar capacity.
  • Must have experience in at least 2 luxury or ultra-luxury brands or independent properties.
  • Working knowledge of Forbes Travel Guide Luxury Hospitality Rating.
  • BSc. from an accredited university in Human Resources, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Hospitability, Business Administration, or related major; 2 years’ experience in human resources or related professional area; certified trainer.
  • Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Ability to:
  • prioritize and organize.
  • be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgement.
  • understand employee needs.
  • work cohesively with all departments.
  • maintain confidentiality of employee information and pertinent hotel data.
  • ascertain departmental training needs and provide such training.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Promotes and informs staff about all training programmes.
  • Displays leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifies excellent customer service and creates a positive atmosphere for guest relations.
  • Helps employees identify specific behaviours that will contribute to service excellence.
  • Ensures staff receives on-going training to understand guest expectations.
  • Uses effective training methods to ensure employees have a good understanding of guest satisfaction and can demonstrate guest satisfaction skills.
  • Observes service behaviours of staff and provides feedback to individuals and/or managers.
  • Monitors enrolment and attendance at training classes.
  • Meets regularly with participants to assess progress and address concerns.

LAUNDRY TECHNICIAN


The Laundry Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing mechanical and service support to the resort’s Laundry & Housekeeping Division. The successful candidate will work closely with Rooms Technicians to provide problem solving and preventative maintenance for all aspects of the Laundry Department.

Specific Requirements/Duties of the Position Include:
  • Assisting in training operators of laundry equipment regarding usage, cleaning and operating precautions to prevent injury to staff and damage to equipment.
  • Carrying out routine maintenance and repairs to laundry equipment according to preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Maintaining complete records of associated equipment and machinery, including, but not limited to, installation, warranty, spare parts and service history.
  • Monitoring of the use of machinery and equipment to ensure proper operation and efficiency.
  • Installing new equipment or components.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum of a High School Leaving Certificate/Diploma.
  • Certificate from recognised Tertiary and/or Vocational Training Institution.
  • Skill level and/or Technical Competence equivalent to at least Level III HEART Trust NTA certification.
  • Ability to satisfy Sandals Engineering Technical Competencies

LIFEGUARDS

Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of all guests engaged in watersports activities or using the resort’s aquatic facilities by preventing and responding to emergencies.

Specific Requirements/Duties of the Position Include:
  • Maintaining visual contact of guests during their use of equipment and being fully prepared to render prompt assistance.
  • Responding immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
  • Identifying and reporting any observed signs or symptoms of illness/injury of a rescued victim to the nurse and the Dive Supervisor and Manager.
  • Providing emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Presenting professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintaining a high standard of customer service

  • High School Leaving certificate
  • First Aid & CPR Certified
  • Valid lifeguard license
