Accountant (Spanish Town, Jamaica)

A well established manufacturing and distribution company located in Spanish Town requires the services of a suitably qualified, knowledgeable and highly motivated individual to fill the post of ACCOUNTANT. 
Report to: Finance Manager

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  • Tertiary level education, preferably a degree in Accounting or related area
  • Level 2 ACCA or equivalent
  • Three (3) years experience at the Accountant or equivalent level
  • Proficiency in the use of accounting software
Required Skills
  • Effective oral and written skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask while being excellent at time management
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate a small team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The range of duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Reconciliation of bank accounts and liaising with bank officers from time to time
  • Reconciliation of various general ledger accounts
  • Costing of all imported supplies and updating all related accounts on a timely basis
  • Preparation of all tax returns ensuring that filing and payment are done within the stipulated periods
  • Assisting in preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Assisting in preparation of periodic cash flow statements and annual budgets
  • Liaising with auditors in planning and execution of annual audit
  • Assisting with the supervision of junior staff in the department
