Applications are invited to fill the following position at the National Gallery of Jamaica (NGJ):

CASHIER (FMG/CS 1)

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Senior Accountant the incumbent is responsible for the collection, receipt and dispatch of all public funds received by the National Gallery of Jamaica (NGJ)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collects and receive all public funds
• Prepares lodgments for all funds received
• Monitors and maintains Cash Book
• Monitors and maintain cheque, receipts and invoice book register
• Prepares bills for payment
• Assists in ensuring cheques are signed
• Verifies entries in the value book against the money received
• Maintains the Petty Cash Imprest
• Maintains records of all auxiliary and official receipts
• Disburses salaries and allowances to staff and other persons being paid by the National Gallery

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Four (4) CXC or GCE O’Level subjects including English Language and Accounts or Mathematics plus
• AAT Level 1 or Government Accounting Level 1
• Two (2) years’ related working experience
