Cooks (Kingston, Montego Bay & St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) - Child Protection & Family Services Agency

The Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA), formerly Child Development Agency, an Executive Agency under the portfolio of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information, invites suitably qualified persons to fill the following positions:
Cooks (level 1A)
 

Salary: $480,532.00 - $540,535.84

Locations:
Blossom Gardens Child care Facility in Montego Bay - Western Region

Glenhope Nursery in Kingston, Southeastern region
Manning Child Care Facility in St. Elizabeth, Southern region

Job Responsibilities:

Under the general direction of the Manager, the Cook will ensure the overall management of the Kitchen and is required to plan and provide healthy nutritionally balanced meals to meet the needs of the children in the care of the Child Care Facility.
  • Plans and prepares varied menus according to the diet sheet
  • Prepares and serves healthy nutritious food according to Food Health and Safety standards
  • Arranges the appropriate storage of food and supplies
  • Monitors and maintains the inventory of food supplies and orders food and supplies in sufficient quantities for weekly meals
  • maintains records related to meals served, inventory and costs of kitchen operation
  • Schedules maintenance and repairs of kitchen equipment
Key Knowledge and Competencies
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the Child care and Protection Act
  • Knowledge of the protocols regarding residential care of children placed under the care of the Child Protection and Family Services Agency
  • Good catering skills
  • Ability to work under pressure


Qualifications and Experience:
  • Four (4) CSEC/GCE subjects including English Language and Mathematics
  • Certificate in Food Preparation
  • Minimum of two (2) years related experience
  • Valid Food Handler's Permit
or 
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience
